Garage – Haus Schulenburg

[gspeech type="button"]

One of Gera’s oldest garages from 1914 has been preserved in the Schulenburg house. The large room had been greatly altered by raising the floor, adding wall installations and enlarging the windows. Following the demolition of the fixtures, the original wall and floor design with reduction fire bricks reappeared and the old carriage pit was also found. The window openings were restored to their original size. The 5-leaf garage door has now been reinstalled with matching glazing.

Paul Schulenburg was a car enthusiast. The latest Maybach model was parked in the garage on the right, with a Mercedes as a second car on the left. For his chauffeur, Richard Müller, he had a parade uniform made from the finest thread in a Berlin uniform tailor’s shop. He had his own petrol station right outside the garage.
