From 1947 to 1950, Haus Schulenburg was used as a hospital school for the Gera Forest Hospital. In 1950, it was given the status of a nursing school with boarding accommodation. From 1961, Haus Schulenburg became a company vocational school for various medical professions and was recognised as a university of applied sciences in 1974.
